Yesterday the Mr. and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary and our 9 year anniversary of being together. yes, I'm 25 and I said 9 year. We met when I had just turned 16. I love the man with all my heart and he had continued to surpass any expectations I ever had of being married.
We had great plans to spend the entire day together without the babe. We had a babysitter all lined up, had plans and all, then the night before our anniversary Mr had to get up 8 or 9 times with the babe. (yes, I know...my husband gets up instead of me,like I said, he surpasses any expectations). In the morning babe had a fever. This could only be one thing. Zane was giving us an ear infection for our anniversary. He's had them before. The same symptoms every time. So, I called the doctor and couldn't get an appointment until 3:40 pm. So we ditched our previous plans and hung out all morning watching tv. I was kinda bummed. We took him to the doctor, sure enough it was an ear infection, in both ears-poor kid. We called my mother in law to see if she would still watch babe and of course she said yes. We dropped him off and were deciding where we should go eat.
This is where the story gets good.....
He told me he wanted to take me somewhere really nice, it was after all our 5 year anniversary. He asked me about the Chef's Table. I wasn't thrilled. One of my sister's was proposed to there and that marriage ended badly to put it nicely. So the thought of celebrating my marriage where a horrible on started didn't sound awesome. He decided we were going there anyways.
This is where the story gets even better.....
The Mr. told me he wanted to take me to Chef's Table because we deserve it, it is after all our 5 year anniversary. We get to the restaurant and we walk and and immediately feel out of place. The hostess is wearing a cute little black dress and we're both wearing jeans. I have on a cute top and a blazer and the Mr. is wearing a t shirt and a jazz hat. We've heard this is a really nice restaraunt but didn't know it was the kind of really nice that you need to dress nice. The hostess was super snoody and we got to our table and they put our napkins on our laps. (ya, we still look like scrounges) There is one other party there and it's all men in suits...nice ones (we are still in our jeans) We expected to pay extra here but we opened up the menu. Holy crap! Our dinner would be at least $80. Rediculous. (call me cheap-I don't care.) 1st-we feel rediculous because we are super underdressed. 2nd-we are cheap. So we decide to leave. I'm married to the worst liar ever so when our waiter is in ear shot Mr stutters out, "um..uh..our baby is uh really sick, so we uh have to leave." He's a horrible liar. His face is flushed and I'm laughing. The waiter looks at us like we are white trash as we are walking out. We pass the hostess and she asks where we are going and I say really quick, " the babysitter bailed" As soon as we are out the door Mr and I start laughing hysterically and run to the car. It was awesome. We felt like stupid teenagers and although I would never want to relive my teenage days it felt good.
I've heard about a restaruant in the River Woods- La Jolla and I suggest we go there. When we got there we could see in the window and could see people were dressed like us.. We were ok. We walked in and the place is ADORABLE! The main room is covered with lemon trees. Our food was absolutely declicious and with an appetizer (the most $ one) both our meals, and dessert we paid $55. Much better. Plus, the Mr. made a giant mess on the table cloth so I was even more glad we weren't at Chef's Table. It's probably my new favorite place. After wards we went to see The Green Hornet. If you haven't seen this movie you life is not complete. It was awesome. I laughed almost the entire movie. I had the best time. Since the babe has been born we haven't gone out together very often and when we do it's usually to the temple. So, he's to 5 years and eternity to go!
this is the table coth mess. ps-that is not poop, it's chocolate
we didn't take this until we got home at midnight. I don't usually stay up that late. We were both tired.
