Mom of the Match

I can't believe I haven't already blogged about this. My sister TJ is the bomb.com. She nominated me to be Mom of the Match at a Real Salt Lake game and I was chosen!!! I mean, how cool is that? 

I got to go down the the grass before the game started and they videoed me with my hubs and kids while they presented me with a gift. (A big shot embosser machine, it's pretty sweet). They gave us sweet tickets, sweet enough that when we went home we checked the DVR and sure enough you can see us on TV.

One of the best parts of the whole thing was that I got to feel the grass that professional soccer players play on. It's incredible. It's so soft and perfect. They guy that was taking us around thought I was a crazy person because I sat down and rubbed my hands on the grass until it was awkward. 

Sometimes I hate watching soccer. I feel like I just gave up. Oh wait, that's exactly what I did. I turned down scholarships because I simply didn't want to go. I can't say I would go back and change my life so that I took the scholarships because I love my hubs and kids, even more than I love soccer. But you better believe that if Z-Man or Millie have opportunities like I had I will make them go.

The Beautiful Game

I was dumb when I was younger. I gave up college soccer scholarships because I was scared. I was scared I'd suck at the collegiate level. I was scared I'd suck at school. I was scared I'd lose my boyfriend. (who is now my hubby). I can't say I'd give up now what I have to have played in college-I just wish I had both.
So to keep playing soccer I play on a women's league with a bunch of girls I played with in high school. It's a blast. I love these girls-plus, we win a lot so that is always fun. In the last 4 years I've been playing we have only lost the Championship twice., the season I was pregnant, and the season right after I had Zane...so I feel pretty good about that.
and this season we won again! It was a close game-too close. At half we were down 2-0. We have a player on our team that is brand new to soccer (I hope) we added her just for numbers sake. But she KILLS us when she's in. it's only 6v6 so when one player does nothing it really kills the rest of the team...long story short-I seriously offended her and she left the game without telling anyone. We were grateful. (honestly I'm not that mean, there was a language barrier there) We got 2 goals and went to Golden Goal. Most people hate Golden Goal but I thrive for it. I love the pressure of you have to score and you cannot let the other team. I love it. But..no one scored. We went to a shoot out and since we have the best keeper in the league(she played semi-pro this year) and we all scored our PK's we won!
