Rhyno and I had the most traumatic experience of our lives.
Our sweet little Z had eaten a prescription pain pill. A very strong one.
When a child takes a pill like that it affects their respiratory system.
Z stopped breathing. Long enough to turn blue.
As I was having a panic attack Rhyno came to the rescue and gave Z CPR to get him to start breathing again. He saved his life. What an awesome daddy right?
We took him to the ER. It was complete torture to watch Z as he didn't feel well, wasn't sure what was happening, and he had a million nurses trying to get an IV in his arm.
They admitted him into the hospital and that night they ended up having to give him Narcan (a drug to reverse the side effects of the pill he ate) because he wasn't breathing well.
It was really scary because the Dr. told us he could have bad side effects and could quite possibly have a seizure. Luckily, that did not happen. It worked wonders, he started breathing normally and slept for a good 10 hours.
Rhyno and I said about a gazillion (that's a lot) of prayers during those three days. Rhyno was able to (with his dad) give Z a Priesthood blessing. We could feel the love and prayers from so many of our family and friends. I'll forever be grateful for that.
Cherish your kids every second. For those who have never had a scary thing like that happen, just take my advice to love every second with your children, the good and the bad. Being a parent is by far the most rewarding experience I've ever had and I'm so grateful that as I'm typing this I have two beautiful, healthy, and safe babies slumbering not too far from me.

Yeah, that was a really bad scare, I'm so relieved he is O.K. now.
